marathon (okay, half marathon)

well, it's here. i am running my first half marathon tomorrow! eeeee!
i didn't look at the details for what i was signing up for, but duh, it's a halloween marathon. you wear costumes. i wasn't really aware of this 'til yesterday. i didn't want to do this by myself anymore so i talked my brother into signing up. i'm so grateful he is running with me!
he even had to pay double the price..
anybody have some ideas for what i should wear? that's manageable to run in?

on a completely different note, i had a dream that i had a beard. when i looked closer, my beard was made of ramen noodles. i was growing ramen noodles out of my face.

happy halloween weekend!!

ol' yella

i have realized that i don't wear color too often. i seem to stick to my blacks, grays, and whites.
well, i want this to change so i put on my ol' yella sweater today and got TWO compliments :) thank you.
this post just reminded me of a "love note" i got from a boy my sophomore year of high school.
in it he asked:
"what are your favorite colors? mine are black, gray, and white. but i guess those are shades, so my favorite color is green. and i think i love you."
i have turned into the boy from my sophomore year.

(my two best pictures were of me walking to and from my posing spot...)

what are these sunglasses you ask? okay, maybe you didn't ask.. BUT, these are a new model for the girls line over at proof. they are called "the gatos" and really cute. obviously.
word on the street is there will be a giveaway once i get a 100 followers :)

mix, don't match

i don't have too much on my mind besides going to the old spaghetti factory tonight. i got up at 5 for boot camp this morning and needless to say, i am tired. my instructor warned us about this time of year for comfort foods. comfort foods, shmufort foods. i love food.
and i especially love the spaghetti factory.
i will eat to my hearts content and top it off with spumoni ice cream.
take that boot camp! ... i'll see you at 5 tomorrow.

puttin on the glitz

saw this idea on cupcakes and cashmere's blog.
i thought it would be a fun for the holidays.. or any days.
she only does her ring finger glittery so it makes her ring bling. so i did too :)
the nail polish is from mary kay and the glitter is from wal-mart.
the glitter is cheap! and comes in a variety holiday colors.
i don't know how much the polish is.. it's cristis :)
now i've got thanksgiving, christmas, valentines, st. patricks, and 4th of July covered. phew.
apply two coats of gold then sprinkle the glitter on the ring finger while under coat is still wet. once it's all dry, apply a top coat of clear polish.

 bling'n! :)

french onion soup

made this on sunday. it was rainy. and perfect.

  • french onion soup: easy!

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cups sliced onions
  • 4 (10.5 ounce) cans beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons dry sherry (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices French bread
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese, diced
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  1. Melt butter with olive oil in an 8 quart stock pot on medium heat. Add onions and continually stir until tender and translucent. Do not brown the onions.
  2. Add beef broth, sherry and thyme. Season with salt and pepper, and simmer for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat the oven broiler.
  4. Ladle soup into oven safe serving bowls and place one slice of bread on top of each (bread may be broken into pieces if you prefer). Layer each slice of bread with a slice of provolone, 1/2 slice diced Swiss and 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese. Place bowls on cookie sheet and broil in the preheated oven until cheese bubbles and browns slightly.

pumpkin patch

i haven't been to the pumpkin patch since i was a little girl but living with a 19 month old gave us the excuse the go. we went on saturday and it was a surprisingly hot morning/afternoon. we had all dressed for that "perfect fall weather" but we enjoyed it non the less. brooks mentioned that farmers make more money turning their crops into these "pumpkin patches" and i believe him. a lot of people go to these things.

i adore this man

that night tanner and i got dinner at a mongolian bbq and then watched the boise hockey team lose to the utah grizzlies. we bet on the game of course, and i won a yogurt and a head message.  i shared my yogurt with tanner.
