in looove

i settled on this little beauty :)

i drive by this store called the "shabby house" all the time. today i decided to pop in and it may have been a bad decision.. i wanted everything! i bought this cute bird cage and it got me thinking of my friend brit conley. her friends and family know her at "britbird." she battled melanoma cancer last year and has a dream of working in orphanages in south america. with your help, that could be possible! please watch the video here, and if you feel so inclined to donate, it would be much appreciated! anything helps!

my weekend started out right. on friday morning i was able to have breakfast with jessica. this girl is a gem. we can just pick up right where we left off and it's always good catching up! saturday we listened to general conference while tanner and i ran a bunch of errands. the weather was awesomeeee! we had lunch outside and when we got home we stayed in our front yard for the rest of the afternoon. it was so nice. we both worked on our bikes.. i painted mine and tanner put a motor on his.. or at least he is trying to. i also felt grown up while i weeded the yard and got things ready to plant :)
on sunday it had dropped 30 degrees.

how does she

Over at howdoesshe today!
It's that most wonderful time of the year! Where the flowers are blooming and the birds are singing and everything is turning green. I really love the spring and the life it brings back to the earth! A huge trend that I've been seeing right now is pastels. Quick note: if you see some mint green pants, don't hesitate, just buy them! They are selling like hot cakes!
I think that pastels are perfect for the spring and you couldn't get more festive for Easter.

Okay, you might say that you don't look good in pastels, but that's not true! You just have to find which shade suits you. Interestingly enough, when choosing what color looks good on you, it has to do with the color of your skin tone. I always thought it had to do with the color of your hair! Well, the natural color of your hair is taken into account, and so is your eye color, but lets focus on your skin tones today.
If your skin tone is WARM (tan, olive, or beige skin) then greens, yellows, reds, and oranges look really good on you. If your skin tone is COOL (fair or pale skin) then pinks, blues, purples, and greens look really good on you. This pallette board is a great source in finding that perfect pastel to enhance your complexion!

Here's an inspiration board to help give you some ideas for whats hot this season! Or should I say pale?

oh the spring

you know what amazes me? nature. especially during the spring. in the dead of winter i'll look at the trees and just think, there's no way these can grow leaves. they look so.. dead. there's this tree in particular in our front yard that i thought for sure was dead. but yesterday i noticed the little buds starting to sprout on the ends of it's branches. amazing. i love the spring so much. i get really happy seeing flowers popping up and the trees getting greener. i especially love blossoms on trees. the smell brings back so many memories of my dad taking me on walks. he would lift me up to pick my favorite blossoms and then we'd put them in a glass of water when we got home. i loved those days. and i love that i get to relive those days with tanner now.

tree fort

good ol boise had a music festival this last weekend called tree fort. why they had it in march, i don't know, but they lucked out with nice weather. tanner and i checked it out friday night and went back saturday with drew and megan! it was fun to be at a show again. i feel like i haven't been to one since the 'love you long time' days.  we spent a few hours listening to good tunes, eating good food, and just walking around. we topped the night off with scones and milk shakes from merrits then the boys got their fix of FIFA. it was a good day :)

pretty when preggo

Hey, Golden Moment-ers! I’m so excited Darlene invited me to hang out with you guys today.  I’m Brandilyn, a recent college grad, clothing boutique owner, and blogger over at Cats & Cardigans.  I’m also about ready to have my first baby (a boy—due less than a month from now!).

Today I’m going to share three ways I’ve found to stay cute and comfortable throughout your pregnancy.  I can’t tell you how many days I’ve wanted to just slip into maternity yoga pants and an old tee shirt, but it always makes me feel a million times better when I make that extra effort.  Adjusting to a changing body has been an emotional roller coaster, and I’ve found that it’s best to celebrate that I’m capable of growing a human and do my best to look and feel as fabulous as possible—yep, even with stretch marks!
My first tip is to attack your man’s side of the closet (or the men’s side of the thrift store!).  I found this sweater of David’s that I would normally be swimming in, but pregnant, it fits all right!  I rolled the sleeves to give it a little more shape and added a head scarf to keep it feminine.
I got two stretchy cotton skirts (both from Forever 21, neither maternity) that have been life savers.  The waist band is just a wide band of jersey cotton that can be rolled up and over my belly or folded down and over my hips.  Anything that squeezes my middle has become my arch nemesis in these last few months, so I love that these skirts have the comfort of sweatpants but I still feel girly in them.
Finally, when all else fails, my uniform of leggings and a tunic always saves the day!  I’ve collected a couple pairs of classic black maternity leggings and have worn them countless times over the last few months, usually paired with my trusty white tunic.  You can keep this combo interesting by adding any variation of cardigans, scarves, jewelry, etc.

Thanks for having me, Darlene!  And good luck to all you soon-to-be mamas out there!
