finally catching up my life through iphone pictures. life still hasn't slowed down and it won't for awhile. i just can't wait to get out of here next friday and have a break! i saw my good friend, alyse "essig" from high school tonight! we were joking about how it's hard to use some our girlfriends from high schools married names, hers being one of them. her sister just had a baby and she is here visiting her and helping out. i can't explain how great it was catching up with alyse. i think so highly of her.. so highly that before i even starting dating tanner, i wanted to set those two up. turns out i wanted him for myself :) alyse, i love you and i'm so glad we can just pick up where we left off!

tanner and i went to an event tonight at the boise zoo for 40 successful people under the age of 40. my brother in law, brooks, received one of the awards which was pretty cool! it was a gogeous night with good eats and of course some animals to see. the cutest animal of them all was tanner :)

first camping weekend

 i asked tan if he wanted to wear my sunglasses to protect his eyes and he said no. i bet he wished he did! poor lil fella

i really hope we have more opportunities to go camping this summer because i really enjoy it. i definitely am not the more experienced camper, nor do i truly care to be, i just like to be in nature with my hubs, eating hot dogs and roasting marshmallows. being with good friends makes it all the better! drew and megan are always fun to be with. we lucked out with great weather friday night and we hit up the hot springs. the next morning was rainy and cold. we ended up cutting it short and just going home because it's not fun being wet and cold! hope you all had a great weekend!

Now-a-days, I think you can get away with wearing ANYTHING. I have seen some crazy/questionable/interesting outfits and I always end up thinking, huh, that's kind of cool. I guess I have been feeling a need to try something a little different and fun. So why not pair polka dots and stripes together?!

WARNING:

I know that I'm breaking several fashion "rules" in this post such as pairing stripes with another pattern AS WELL AS wearing horizontal stripes, which, in theory, can make you look wider. Whatever, when I break one rule, I go crazy and break 'em all ;)

I was quite surprised when I turned to my closet to find I had a lot of items with either stripes or polka dots. I was even more surprised to put them together and have them look cute!

Try something bold by wearing only stripes and polka dots like the look above. Or you can be more subtle like the look below.

Only the shoes and scarf have polka dots while the shirt is striped. Having a solid color of pants or bottoms really help break up the outfit. And, is more acceptable to the so dubbed fashion rules.

And I apologize, this is like the 4th post using these white pants. I think I really like them.

I found that wearing colors in the same color scheme is what made this work. The first outfit was based off of primary colors while this one is obviously shades.

over the weekend

we are LOVING the summer nights over here. we can't get enough of strolling around outside in the evenings. friday night we got some chinese and just hung out downtown. i pulled out my camera and tanner asked me to put it away and just be with him. i guess i get too caught up in capturing the moments instead of just being in them. it was nice to enjoy each other. tanner played in two soccer games on saturday and he sure felt it sunday morning. he hasn't been able to do anything active for about three weeks since he was sick and he was the sorest i had ever seen him. i couldn't help but laugh at him as he tried so hard to get out of bed. i poked him a lot that day. saturday evening we checked out a greek festival we had heard about. it had a great turn out with some delicious food.. but that was about it. we were there and gone in like 20 minutes :) i also took two naps on saturday in between tanner's games. i don't know why i was so tired, but i guess i needed it.
i crashed on the couch face down in the most un-comfortable position you could think of but slept like i was on cloud 9.

i love my roses

when i first got married, i had imagined my home having fresh flowers weekly. so that's what i did. i spent money at the store on fresh flowers every week. tanner didn't like this because he said "it was a waste of money because they just die." i decided to stop because he's right and they are not cheap. now i live in a little house that has lots of rose bushes outside! i'm so happy to be able to fill my want of having fresh flowers in the home all the time. i can refill my vase as many times as i want :)
